Grandad – a Snapshots of Spain story (#1)

It takes only one old man to turn a six-year-old’s life upside down.

Jorge is used to being the center of attention in his multicultural family of three. Over the six years of his life, he’s grown accustomed to the multiple languages spoken in his house in Spain and trips abroad to visit family in his parents’ homelands. He’s especially cherished the times with his grandparents and extended family in Estonia.

But all of that changes when Mummy gets a fateful phone call one spring afternoon. In an instant, Jorge’s life is thrown into chaos.

Grandad Otto is a quiet man, best suited for life in his native Estonia. Over his many years, he’s never left the country nor needed to communicate in any language but his own. All that is about to change. Stricken with grief and faced with his own deteriorating health, he is persuaded by his daughter to move in with her family in San Raspieg de Vicente, Alicante.

Two unlikely roommates. Two unwavering spirits. One beautiful story.
