Marianne – a Snapshots of Spain story (#8)

Language-learning is always an uphill battle, especially when you’re sixty-seven!

Marianne never pictured herself moving to a new country and learning a new language in her retired years, but that’s exactly where life has led her. Following her divorce and retirement, she decides to follow her adult son and his partner to Torremolinos. While she loves the beautiful coastal town they call home, it’s a definite adjustment from visiting as a tourist and attempting to settle herself into a routine that feels like her own life.

Her beginner Spanish classes are proving difficult and she’s almost ready to give up when she meets a new friend unexpectedly at a cute café she’s had her eye on for some time.

As their coffee dates become more frequent, their language barrier diminishes, and a beautiful bond begins to form.
