I realized recently that it may be interesting for you to know why it is I currently write short stories. Contrary to a reasonable assumption, I’m not particularly fond of short stories as a reader and it is only through the process of writing them that they have grown on me as a writer! As this year draws to a close, I find myself thinking not so much about reading, writing, or personal development but how much you may need to hear this very message. I hope it serves you well.
This month, I participated in #TheWriterCommunity prompts and the experience has taught me a ton on the personal side—such as opened my eyes to the support system available to me as a writer—as well as the technical side—like how I approach story development. These were my take-aways.
Pretty much anyone in-the-know advises against writing in multiple genres if you want to be a successful writer. The reasons they say this are perfectly valid…but I still don’t plan to follow the advice—here’s why!
