Protected: Writing Process Journal 5 – Q1 of 2023

Quarter 1 of 2023: Revisions, Re-release Prep, and Balance

As I entered into 2023, I had some big goals on my mind. For three full days at the start of the year, I did little else but plan and set intentions. I’ll be honest, by the third day I was getting antsy, but I coaxed myself to stay the course and lean into my 2023 intentions (trusting the process and embracing my word of the year, evolution).

I think this approach was very worthwhile as I was able to plan out everything I anticipated doing through June! Additionally, this helped me to research sooner and see when certain things (like working with an editor or a cover designer) might take longer than I expected. For this reason, I was able to move up my timeline from the start, instead of needing to push it back later.

Finally, this early planning meant that I set up calendars for my author tasks through June, adding in all the dates I planned to release additional content (blog posts, videos, and these writing process journals) as well as scheduling in time to work on them during the weeks prior to release. I won’t focus in on these tasks in this WPJ, but those were always going on in the background as well.

Main focus for the quarter:
1. Move my Most Unlikely manuscript through the Draft 3, Draft 4, and Developmental Edit stages
2. Fully prepare for the April 5 Snapshots of Spain Re-release
3. Maintain work-life balance to prevent burnout
